Ashley Warwick

Social Media Artist

Performances:

Ashley Warwick born and raised before the lighthouse in West Trinidad, 20 years old, is a spoken word artist who has been writing and performing for five years and is pursuing her BSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of the West Indies.

Ashley goes against the norm of creating competitive slam poetry. She instead uses spoken word as a tool of immersive and imaginative storytelling to engage and educate audiences to challenge norms and values related to crime, violence, racism, religion, gender and sexuality in Caribbean society.

Ashley seeks to use poetry to advocate for marginalised communities and groups by creating healthy discussions and discourse that cultivate social change and to provide artistic mentorship and avenues of healthy self-expression for the youth of Trinidad and Tobago.
